I'm laconically lazy!

Ok, so I owe an update.

Couple of weeks back I went to the dentist. Mainly to get my teeth cleaned, and a basic checkup before I head off. After a bit of poking and prodding he told me I'd need a couple of small fillings. He took an x-ray (boost the cost.. damn leeches) and found that my wisdom teeth were going to cause problems later on, and that I'd need to get them removed at some point. Bad news, as I was reeaallly hoping to avoid that. But oh well. So I go back in four days to get those fillings done.

I had to make a mad dash to get to the dentists on time because a good friend rang me from overseas to talk to me about what I was doing. Nick and I plan on meeting up in England sometime in early September. It should be good - hopefully we'll be able to find a flat together, and earn enough cash for both of us to be able to head over to the USA and also do some travelling around the UK and Europe.

Oh, and I bought a bag! Like, a big, proper, fuck-off backpack. A 90 litre job. It's got more holes, nooks and crannies than a porn star on crack. I don't think there's anything I couldn't fit in it - which is both good and bad. I don't think there's any way I could carry it very far if it ever got full. Fortunately, I don't plan on filling it to the brim. Still - I could if I needed to. ;)

Finally lost my broadband.. but it's not so bad. The dial-up I'm on is actually quite impressive. The plan says that there are four hour disconnect limits (so, after being connected for four hours, you're dropped and someone else has a go). 24 hours, 12 minutes later, I'm still connected and going strong.. it will be interesting to see just how long I can stay connected for. :) Oh, and I suppose I should mention that for the $9.90 you pay, you get 70Mb worth of downloads. Anything more than that is x cents per megabyte, until a maximum of $24.50 is reached, in which case you can keep downloading and pay nothing extra. I've had it connected for three days now, and I've downloaded half a gigabyte... wheeeee.... back to the good old days! :D

Went to Bathurst on the weekend to catch up with my friends there and also to celebrate a friend's 21st. Had a great night! Not much more I can say really.. copious amounts of booze, and I took the punishment rather well. I put it down to all the milk I drank before-hand. Oh! The drive up was fun. We passed five cars over three kilometers doing 220Km/hour. Vrrroooooooooooom! Kickass.

My laptop finally arrived! I had to pay about $75 in duty, and I needed to purchase a $10 Australian plug for it (as opposed to the US one it was shipped from my friend's place with), but I think it will be the cheapest laptop I'll ever buy. ;) I've been setting it up, and it's soooo much fun! A lot faster than I thought it would be, actually. The screen sucks, but there's not much one can do about that. I have VNC (Virtual Network Computing) set up on it, so I can either control my computer via the laptop (good for chatting to people on the net, and controlling music / movies whilst in bed) or vice-versa (good for setting up all the stuff I need on it for overseas without actualy getting up off my chair and using it's silly stick mouse thingie). It'll be great on my travels, to keep a diary on.

Ooh, that reminds me. Note to self: e-mail Phoenix re PHP webpage for my o/s blog. Hopefully I'll be able to get a LiveJournal-esque thing set up on this computer so I can update my adventures via the web, have a quick and easy comments function, and archiving of old posts.

Right, I'd better go fix lunch and make a start on cleaning my room. (Yes, I really DO plan on doing it before I go.. eventually.... soon.. ish......)
